I was taken to the Yacht Hotel by my now fiancé, as a surprise for my birthday. He wanted to make an impression and take me somewhere memorable. He did a great job because the Yacht Hotel impressed me, and it was certainly one to remember!
Hotel Class:
4/5
Cams Rating:
3/5
Dates: 20th May – 21st May (1 night).
Location
The hotel is in a great location. It’s situated on the bank of Royal Victoria Dock, which is a 3-minute walk from the Excel Centre and a short walk from Custom House DLR station. It’s also easily accessible from Greenwich, with a short trip over the river on the Emirates Cable Cars.
The views are amazing, especially at night time when the city is lit up. Panoramic views can be enjoyed of the Docklands, Canary Wharf, The O2 Arena and Excel Centre, all from the comfort of the Yacht deck.

First Impressions
Even though the Yacht Hotel isn’t a functioning yacht, it certainly looks and feels the part. Its enormous white stature is five storeys high, 102 meters long, and contains 131 guest hotel rooms and 4 suites.
When you walk in the entrance of the hotel, you enter a lift to be taken up to the reception area to check-in. The first thing I noticed was the plush décor in the foyer area. The double-curved staircase with glass panels and centred grand chandelier instantly caught my eye.

Guest rooms
We stayed in a ‘Classic room with river view’ cabin.
On entering the room, there was a cute surprise on the bed- scattered red rose petals and a towel sculpture in the shape of two doves forming a heart (aww!).
The room was super comfy and clean. Our room was spacious and included an intimate lounge area, with a 2-seat sofa, flat-screen TV and a coffee table, which had complimentary truffle chocolates on. There was a big porthole- style window; one look out of there quickly reminded me I wasn’t just in a hotel, I was on a Yacht, surrounded by water! (Lol)
River View From Room
The price included tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits, free high-speed wifi, a mini fridge with complimentary still and sparkling bottles of water and some Molton Brown products.
There was also an in-room digital tablet attached to the bedside table, which can be used to browse the internet, receive news updates, check out information about the area and request hotel services.
Food and Drink
In the evening, we enjoyed a three-course meal and champagne in the hotel’s Lands End restaurant. The restaurant has a smart- casual dress code and Docklands views.
The food was very well presented, with decent sized portions and tasted really nice.
In the morning, we returned to the same location for breakfast. Breakfast was a standard English breakfast – buffet style. There was also a selection of pastries, juices and cereals.
In the afternoon, we had cocktails in the Sundown bar. This bar is located near the Yacht deck and offers views over Canary Wharf and the 02 Arena.
The bar has a classy and sophisticated feel, and you have the option of sitting outside on the deck. Most of the cocktails are around £11.50. I asked for a cocktail that wasn’t on the menu and the Bartender was more than happy to accommodate this.
